Al-Maqdese for Society Development (MSD) has condemned today the attack of extremist Israeli settlers on the mosque “Akasha” by setting parts of it on fire, west of Jerusalem in the early morning.
Moaz Al-Zatari , Executive Manager of MSD, pointed that the damages to the walls and properties of the mosque aren’t enough for the settlers who aim systematically to remove every Arabic and Islamic effect from the West Bank.
He considered the ban of the Israeli forces on any ramification to the mosque, the prayers of worshipers and the shutdown of the mosque since years a violation of religious rights and Palestinian proprietorial rights to land and religious sites.
Al-Zatari called on Arab MPs in the Israeli Knesset to pressure on the concerned bodies to stop such acts and punish the ongoing attacks of religious sites in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
At the end, he stressed on the importance of protecting this mosque in particular by the Palestinian official bodies, calling for an end to the Israeli violations threatening Palestinian properties, institutions, religious and cultural Arabic sites in Jerusalem.
