Palestinian Child Day in partnership with
Save the Children- Sweden
Al-Maqdese participated in the Palestinian Child Day
on Wednesday, April 4th, at Al-Hakwati National Theatre- East Jerusalem.
The event is titled "Step by Step to fulfill our Rights". This event
addressed different children rights violated socially or politically,
which was expressed by the participating children
A group of children were brought by five partnering organizations with
Save the Children-Sweden SCS: Al-Maqdese, Maan, Juzoor, Palestinian
Counseling Center, and Al-Zuhoor Center. Each group of children
commenced the event by walking from various places near Jerusalem to Al-Hakawati.
Around 500 children attended the event including some parents. Each
group brought by the partner organizations and presented a performance
including sketches, songs, mimic shows, poems and dances.
Children were dressed in unified T-shirts; each group had a different
color as they specified a violated right to be written on their T-Shirts
and some volunteers helped children in writing using different colors.
SCS-Sweden along with its partners presented 10 animated movies that
express children rights in contexts of education, detention, sexual
abuse, equality, and discrimination.
Another movie was presented in which children from West Bank and Gaza
expressed their united call "One home without borders".
On this occasion, it is important to mention that Al-Maqdese succeeded
to issue entry permits for 5 children from the West Bank who joined
Al-Maqdese group of children
At the end, children were given a ranking form to evaluate the movies.
The movie presented by Maan" Right to play" scored the first best movie
and the movie presented by Al-Maqdese entitled" Right to protection from
sexual abuse" scored the second best movie.
It is worth mentioning that the event was implemented within the
framework of the project "Defending and Protecting Children rights in
Jerusalem" 2012-2013 funded by (SCS) Save the Children-Sweden.
